The Town of Zebulon, North Carolina is seeking a highly experienced Town Clerk. This role will report to the Board of Commissioners and assists in all areas to include but not limited to correspondences, travel, and events.
Salary Range: $59,000 -90,250
Closing Date: October 11, 2024
The Town of Zebulon is seeking a qualified and experienced individual to serve as the Town Clerk. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Political Science, Communication, English, or a related field from an accredited college or university, along with at least three years of experience in municipal administration or office management.
Key responsibilities include maintaining accurate records of municipal proceedings, managing official documents, and ensuring compliance with state and local statutes. The Town Clerk will work closely with the Board Members, Town Staff, and the public, providing administrative support and ensuring the smooth operation of municipal functions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Political Science, Communication, English, or a similar field.
- Minimum of three years’ experience in municipal administration or office management.
- Advanced coursework or seminars in municipal functions, including training from the School of Government.
- Certification as a Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) or North Carolina Certified Municipal Clerk (NCCMC) preferred.
- Notary certification, or the ability to obtain one within six months of hire.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong understanding of the structure and functions of municipal government.
- Thorough knowledge of state and local laws governing municipal proceedings.
- Proficiency in office operations, including the use of office equipment, computers, and relevant software.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to foster positive working relationships with government officials, staff, private entities, and the public.
This role requires a highly organized individual with excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced municipal environment.
